Mack Attack is On!!! 02/20/2012
Good Day Fishing Fans, I can't believe that this is winter. It is so warm that the pineapples, mangoes, and almost all fruit trees are in bloom now. The birds are building nests as if it was spring time. I just hope we don't get a big Arctic blast of cold air, or else all the blossoms will die. The surf and air temp are up much higher than normal. When it comes to fishing, there have been waves of migrating fish that have moved through our area. Usually they stay here for months, this year we have to be out there and get lucky with a good day. If you don't go you could miss the bite. Pompano, sharks, bluefish, jack, ladyfish, cobia, and mackerel are possible to catch on fly and light tackle near shore. Snook, small tarpon, jack, pompano, blues, and ladyfish are available in the backcountry. Kingfish, dolphin, sailfish, snapper, permit, and goliath grouper are possible offshore. The jumbo mackerel were here yesterday, lots of them. I love catching them on fly or light spin tackle. They are a blast to catch. They make long smooth runs and taste great, when iced and cooked that night. Plus, they are loaded with that wonderful heart friendly omega oils. Good luck and God bless, Cliff-----------------------<*///>< CommentsLeave a Reply | AuthorI used to write about sportsfishing for different magazines and newspapers.
